---Welcome!

We want to glorify God, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit in everything we do.

Woodhaven is a place where many doors are always open, where you can explore the seemingly simple idea of living with the joy of Christ in our lives. You’re welcome to worship, grow, serve and fellowship with us!

 Worship

Gather with us on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. as we “seek God’s face” as reflected in the beautiful words from Hebrews 12:28: “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, by which we offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence and awe.”

 Grow

No matter how young or how old, we all have room to grow in love and learn from the life and ministry of Jesus. Let’s grow up together!

 Serve

From its beginnings, Woodhaven has encouraged people of all ages to follow Jesus’ example to be ministers to one another, to our community and to our world. How will you serve?

--- Our Pastor

Dave Stratton is pastor of Woodhaven Baptist Church.

“Love God. Love each other.”

When you boil it all down, it’s a pretty simple recipe for irresistible life. Our goal at Woodhaven is to offer you ample opportunities to get to know God and each other a little better. You’re welcomed to join us in that pursuit! (By the way, you’ll find the “recipe” in Matthew 22:36-40.)

--- We’re all Ministers

Woodhaven's youth and parents serve a hot, homemade breakfast to homeless in Raleigh.

Ever thought of yourself as a minister? It might sound exciting or a little scary. At Woodhaven, we believe that all members can be ministers. Talk with us about ways that you’d like to grow and serve in the spirit of Christ.

Colored pencils, glue and craft supplies

The Cuban mission trip is approaching, and our team needs your help in collecting some school supplies for the trip. Our team will not be able to purchase these supplies in Cuba, so our trip organizer, Tom Beam, has asked our church to help collect items. If you are able to help by donating any of the below items, please drop them off in the church office through July 1. Thank you!

  • 4 packs regular markers
  • 4 packs fine tip markers
  • Regular size craft sticks
  • 20 children’s scissors
  • Composition books
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Glue sticks
  • Colored pencils
  • Metric school rulers
  • Loose notebook paper
  • Construction paper (all colors)
Please continue to pray for our youth and chaperones as we prepare for the 2018 Deep Impact Cuba trip.

Come Aboard for VBS!

Floor to ceiling tree made from carpet rolls

Our tropical transformation is underway… It’s almost time for VBS! This year’s theme, “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus,”  will help kids learn that Jesus rescues us when we’re lonely, worried, struggling, do wrong, and feel powerless.

Join us Sunday, June 24 – Thursday, June 28, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Woodhaven. Vacation Bible School is free and open to the community, so bring friends and invite your neighbors! Register for VBS here.

Woodhaven’s adult crew leaders will guide children ages 3-12 in music, Bible stories, Imagination Station (where they’ll receive fun science-y gizmos that illustrate the daily Bible point), Shipwrecked Games, and KidVid Cinema (where they’ll see modern day kids apply the Bible point to their lives). Even the snack each night will be Shipwrecked-flavored!

Speaking of food… All families are invited to join us for dinner each night from 5:15 – 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Dinner is $3/person, and reservations are required. (Sunday – Pizza, salad and fruit, Monday – Hamburger, fries, salad and fruit, Tuesday – Spaghetti, salad and fruit, Wednesday – Taco bar, salad and fruit, Thursday – Hot dog, chips, dessert and fruit) Sign up for VBS meals below.

Don’t miss the boat!

What makes me, me? question on Starbucks cup

Coffee and the Irresistible Life

What makes me, me? question on Starbucks cup
How would you answer these questions: What makes me, me? And you, you? In your life, where do you feel a sense of belonging?

Now, think about yourself as a Christian. How would you answer these questions? Did your answers change any this second time?

Recently, 8,000 Starbucks stores closed for four hours to ask their employees these questions. My daughter works at Starbucks and graduates from high school in a few days. We hope she’s learned what she needs to know for the next leg of life. At home, we’re not as big on learning “all the answers” as we are on asking the kinds of questions that need to be asked, because we believe a really good question can lead to some powerful answers.

Church outreach ministers are hopefully conscientious about studying the bold moves that star companies make in order to right their wrongs, improve trust in the company and create energy for what their products represent. I shouldn’t be surprised that Starbucks has schooled me on the basics of my own role here at church.

Their questions are so good that, as a people of Christ, we need to ask them of ourselves. Those questions get to the heart of the irresistible life that we are in pursuit of here at Woodhaven.

The irresistible life is knowing what makes me, me: I am me because the beautiful imagination of God went about the work of making me. The saving work of Jesus makes me the me that cannot be separated from the Father. The Holy Spirit makes me the me that I am capable of being.

Where do I feel a sense of belonging? Wherever I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. That’s where I find the irresistible life. I wonder if we Christians asked more great open-ended questions, would Starbucks need to?
