At Woodhaven, we believe regardless of your age, fun and curiosity are important parts of the lifelong calling to grow in Christ, that joy comes from growing our faith with the right mix of lightheartedness, challenge and clarity about the essentials of a well lived life in Christ.

 

We developed 10 Essentials for Spiritual Growth that guide the education and discipleship life here at Woodhaven. These are not end goals but clarifying guides for ongoing growth in Christ.

 

1. Developing a well formed theology
2. Building Bible literacy and integration
3. Living our faith where you live and work
4. Participating actively in the elements of worship
5. Engaging in genuinely helpful missional service
6. Learning to share Jesus’ love by telling our own faith story
7. Learning to pray, especially out loud for others in need
8. Living the joys of piety: a life of prayer, reflection and spiritual formation
9. Knowing our past: learning about the 2,000 year Christian story after Jesus ascended into heaven
10. Cultivating holy friendships to challenge, affirm and dream for us the best of what Christ has to offer and what we have to offer Him back (from L. Gregory Jones)

 

Woodhaven’s core discipleship programs are Sunday morning Bible study groups and Wednesday night short-term classes. Groups and activities are available for all ages from preschool to seniors. Read more about Sunday and Wednesday programs. If you need help finding a group for your age or interests, please let us know.

 

Other groups meet weekly or occasionally for fellowship, study and prayer. For example, our Men’s Prayer Breakfast group meets weekly on Saturdays at 8 a.m. at Bojangle’s in Apex. Book clubs or video-based studies are offered at Woodhaven or hosted in members’ homes.
