Deacon-led Ministry Teams

At Woodhaven, we believe that everyone can be a minister, in one way or another. Deacon-led ministry teams give children, teens and adults a variety of ways to use their skills and talents to serve others in our church family and in our community.

You don’t need a special invitation to participate. Just jump in!

SONshine in the Park

Woodhaven regularly ministers to people in downtown Raleigh who are homeless. The SONshine in the Park ministry was created by a group of friends, including one of our own members, Christine Quante.

On the second Sunday of every month, SONshine in the Park serves people in downtown Raleigh a hot, homemade meal – served with a lot of love.

We usually wrap up in time to make it to the 10:30 a.m. worship service at Woodhaven. Come join us!

Lost Sheep Ministries

Interacting with Lost Sheep Ministries is an experience you won’t soon forget. Rev. Phil Brickle is the dynamic leader who founded the outreach ministry to reach out to those who are addicts, homeless, alcoholic, rejected or those who have lost hope.

Woodhaven partners with Lost Sheep to provide warm socks and other clothing, toys at the holidays, and other support. We’re also energized by Rev. Brickle’s participation in worship at least one Sunday during the year.

Habitat for Humanity

Woodhaven regularly partners with other churches to build homes with Habitat for Humanity.

We are supporting Habitat’s Southwest Wake Faith Coalition 2019 Project: Rock the Block. The goal is to perform approximately 10 home preservation projects over two weekends!

This incredible project will require 50-100 volunteers each day from Feb. 21-23 and Feb. 28-March 2. We need 5-6 volunteers from Woodhaven to help each day.

Caring Connections

Caring Connections is a non-profit Christian ministry that works to teach and equip women with essential life and job skills. The ministry encourages them to make informed decisions, pair them with a mentor who will support and guide them through life’s hardships and help connect her to community resources as she builds a life of indpendence and joy. Woodhaven supports Caring Connections through our regular tithes and offerings and provides mentors.

Sock It to ‘Em

You may have noticed a basket in the Narthex filled with undergarments and socks. It’s a Woodhaven ministry we call “Sock it to ’em for Jesus.”

While there are many ministries that provide clothing for the homeless, most do not provide socks, hats, and undergarments. Woodhaven wants to fill that gap. So, when you are shopping and see socks, undergarments and hats on sale, buy them and toss them into the basket. They’ll go to people who need them.
